Why would you even want to breed them? So that you can add to the thousands of puppies in shelters that die everyday? Try thinking this through all the way. And no, it's not a good idea

if i owned you and my sister owned your brother would it be weird if we mated you?
yes, it would also weaken the immune systems of the babies you produce.
so yes, it would be bad to mate siblings.

I wouldn't do it, seriously! Are you gonna mate with your brother? There are only a few species that can do that and get away without ANY health issues.

dont mate them. the pups can have MAJOR genetic disorders
|
|

NO! it would cause MAJOR problems! like death.

Ya its not a good idea. Breeding them is asking for health problems. You need to find dogs that have different lineages if you want to breed. Also, since you are asking this, it shows that you probably should not be breeding in the first place. It is common knowledge that inbreeding in any animal is not a good thing.

Yea that's called inbreeding. Very bad and why hell would you want them to mate? You wouldn't make a baby with your brother would you?
|
|
|
|
|
|
the puppies could have something wrong with them
|
|
|

Not just weird but could result in deformed puppies or puppies with other health concerns.
As you are not aware of the basics in breeding dogs, I would kindly suggest that you spay and neuter your dogs, even one more pup in a shelter on death row is too many...
Leave breeding to those who have studied the breed for years and know that this basic uninformed question shows there is so much you don't know.

Do not do this. It will cause health defects in the puppies.

Ask yourself this: would it be "weird" if you had a child with your brother/sister?
The puppies could come out with great health problems if they are inbred. You never inbreed animals. You wouldn't do it to yourself, don't put the health of these pups under risk by mating the dam with her brother. Get them both spayed.. you clearly aren't mature enough to be breeding any animals.

It's not weird. It's stupid.
Pyrs are not rare; there is no excuse for a first degree inbreeding. Besides, what has either of your dogs ever done to deserve to pass on their genes?
When you should breed your female:
After she's earned her conformation championship, her CD in obedience, passed her OFA assessment for hips and elbows, had her thyroid tested, had a BAER test on her hearing, gotten a CERF certificate for her eyes and she's passed a pre-breeding physical.
After you've read at least three books on breeding, pregnancy and whelping.
After you've saved up enough money to pay for the 3am emergency c-section that she may need.
After you've found a breeding mentor who has years of experience breeding your breed, and you've made all the preparations she recommends, and she's helped you find a male with a complementary pedigree and all the same health clearances.
After you've found a veterinarian who agrees to be available 24/7 starting on day 55 until the pups are born.
After you are sure you can handle the fact that this may end with your female's death, the puppies' deaths, or both.
After you are sure you can handle taking a deformed puppy to the vet for humane euthanasia before it's a full day old.
Or, you can avoid all this pain, stress and heartache by having the female spayed now. You'll both be happier for it.

Yes. I wouldn't do it. The results can be sick puppies. It's not worth it.

pure breed dogs experience more health problems than mutt breeds. This is due to things like what you are proposing. Would you have sex with your brother/sister?
Inbreeding causes animals to be unhealthy and unintelligent, this includes dogs and people. Don't do it.
Mutts are likely to be healthy happy and smart. This is because they have a wider variety in genetics handed down to them by their parents (and their parent's parents...). This gives them the best chances for developement.
The chickens and turkeys we eat were selectively bred (like your dogs). We made it so the breast meat would be bigger. Good for us. The breasts are so large that these birds can't fly, walk, or have sex. Very bad for the birds. If you look at a wild chicken or turkey, they are agile, intelligent, and beautiful creatures. Look at the farmed versions, they are sad useless creatures. Let your dog have sex with who they choose. If you do that than you are giving your dog the same respect your parents show you. I hope your parents don't tell you who to marry or have sex with!
Freedom! for people and critters!

Responsible breeders do these types of matings once in a blue moon but only with extreme caution. A brother/sister mating will "bring out" all of the best and worst in your dogs' genes. If the stock is exceptional - and by this I mean that not only are both individuals nearly perfect in type with exceptional temperaments and "excellent" ratings on a pile of health tests - but their ancestors and ancestor's siblings and half-siblings also have all these traits.
If the breeding stock, or any related dogs, have ever shown signs of a hereditary defect, the breeding will likely be avoided since it is highly probable that both dogs "carry" the genes that could cause this disease and that at least 1/4 of the pups will display it - think of 1/4 to all of the pups with crippling arthritis, totally blind, or dead of renal/cardiac failure by age two for a moment - most pedigrees do not have the strength to risk this kind of close breeding since the chance of producing a "great" dog is much, much less than the chance of producing a dead, crippled, or dying one.
Remember: if you are going to breed purebreds, you need to live up to the legacy that the developers and keepers of the breed have left you.
1) Your dogs need to LOOK like Great Pyrenese and conform to what the objective, written standard says are the characterists a Great Pyrenese should have - the objective way to prove this is through earning a Ch. title in the breed ring. Why should I buy a purebred that will look like a mutt when it's grown? If I wanted a mutt, I would adopt a dog from a shelter.
2) Your dogs need to have stable, friendly, trainable temperaments. The objective way to prove this is by training your dogs and earning companion/performance titles (obedience, agility, tracking) or by have them tested and certified as working or therapy dogs. Why should I expect a puppy to be trainable if mom and dad are out to lunch and out of control?
3) Your dogs need to be health tested for all genetic defects that have been found in their breed for which a test is available. This includes OFA Hips, Elbows, Shoulders, Patellas, Thyroid levels, Cardiac, and a CERF eye exam. Why should I believe that my puppy will live a long, happy life free from hereditary defects if you can't even show me that their parents are free of them?
If both dogs and their entire known family tree for several generations not only meet but surpass these basic requirements in type, temperament, and health testing, AND a responsible, ethical long-time breeder recommends it to produce stellar pups and explains why there is no other breeding of more distantly related dogs that has the potential to produce as high a quality, then and only then would I consider this mating a "good idea". If your dogs can't meet these high standards, they should be enjoyed as wonderful pets and spayed/neutered.

Would you want to make a child with YOUR borther/sister.
Inbreeding is inbreeding no matter what your species is. You will have MESSED up puppies if you breed a brother and sister.

It wouldnt be very smart! It causes genetic diseases. Too many people ignorant to the subject are breeding their dogs and if they took a look around them they would get their animals fixed there are way too many unwanted dogs because people wanna ''breed'' their dogs...Approximately 3-4 million cats and dogs are euthanized every year.Hopefully now that you know that you wont want to add to the over population of dogs.Just enjoy your family pet and you should get it fixed too.Being spayed or neutered is good for your animal: it will increase the dog's lifespan, and reduce the risk of reproductive cancers such as cervical and testicular cancer.

bad ideal inbreeding isn't good at all...that's why kennel clubs are under fire now because of so much inbreeding in kennel club breed standard purebreds...breeding relative to relative even line breeding is bad...i breed mixed and akc registered purebreds i stay away from relative to relative breeding of any kind...i will not breed my dogs by breed standards...
