They just want to get more money out of you.
You should more research on the food you are giving her.
It might be that all these sicknesses showed up at the same time.
or maybe shes just getting old.

Honestly? It sounds like your dog has diabetes.
The majority of dogs with this health problem will go blind. My diabetic dog did virtually overnight.
Diabetic dogs cannot gain anything from the food they eat- so they slowly starve to death- this is why your dog has lost so much weight. She needs to be put on insulin.
You really need to get her back to the vet ASAP- it would have been good to make the appointment once she started deteriorating, but just see how you go for your Monday appointment.

A common complication of diabetes in dogs is cataracts. I think it's coincidence that they have appeared at the same time as the change in diet. As for the weight loss...that is another symptom of diabetes in dogs. Is your dog on insulin?
Also, Alpo is terrible food. It's best that she is off of it.

Our diabetic cat got cataracts (he could see blurs but nothing sharp). Humans with diabetes can get cataracts due to that too. I guess dogs are the same.
If it was just one eye I'd think it was possibly a scratched retina, which can cloud up the entire eye, but if the fog is a cataract, I'd look at the diabetic conditiion since that's there already. Vets don't/can't treat dog cataracts, they rarely do the operation that humans can get.
Or glaucoma. Dogs can get that too. It puts pressure inside the eyeball, it would be worth discussing that with the vet.
If you don't trust your vet, and don't want to try a different clinic for a second opinion, go over to YahooGroups and sign up with a diabetic dog list over there and ask the owners how much they've seen this in their dogs.
Is your dog on insulin? Diabetes can be managed, the trick is to get the dog stabalized first.

I agree with Jessica. Diabetes can also cause eye trouble. And at 9 yrs old, that's old in human years... I would go to a different vet and tell them everything you have written here. Good luck.

Yes, cataracts go along with diabetes, and sounds like that is what your dog has. Diabetes is very expensive to treat in a dog, and it will just lead to kidney/liver failure. At 9, I don't think you are going to have your dog very much longer. You need to think very, very seriously if you want to spend a lot of money on treatments that are only going to possibly prolong her life for a couple of years, not decrease her blindness, and not really make her well.
If I had a dog that old, I would consider putting her down. Your dog is VERY sick.
