Raw prey-model diet is the absolute best way to feed any dog (wolf).

you should feed your german shepherd twice a day when a puppy is between 6 months and a year it should be fed twice a day you should maintain that scheduale throughout adulthood but it all depends on the food most dog food's have intructions on the back of the bag i suggest you check :)

That is entirely dependant on a few things. First, not all food is created equal. Assuming you are feeding kibble, higher quality food will require you feed less to obtain the same nutritional requirements. Four cups of lesser quality food may be the same as 2 cups of higher quality. The other is how active your dog is. Look at the suggestions on the bag and start from there. They do tend to run a little high so don't feel bad for cutting back. Next, watch your dog's weight closely. If the dog gains, cut back, if they lose, add more. Here is a chart on judging weight. Bascially, there should be a tuck behind the ribs, before the hips. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them (scroll past the cat) http://www.iams.com/iams/pet-health/body-condition.jsp#2 I am constantly adjusting my dog's food depending on their activity and weight. There is no set amount.
